The Company has the largest electricity generation, transmission and distribution network in Tanzania. In order to reach its goals, the Company will, in the coming years invest heavily in its generation, transmission and distribution network, its business systems and human capital.  TANESCO now invites internal and external applicants who are self-motivated, honest, hardworking and committed individuals to fill the under-mentioned posts at Kihansi Hydropower Plant.
1. OPERATIONS ENGINEER – 1 Post
   Report to: Principal Operations Engineer
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for supervising the efficient operation of Kihansi by coordinating with the Maintenance department regarding Operational levels of Plants and equipments. Facilitate strategic reservoir regulation to Optimize Grid contribution of Kihansi and Uwemba Units.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·     Monitor and review operational levels of various Power Plant installations in view of maximizing Plant availability of Generating units. These include monitoring proper interaction of Operators with Operator station, Station computers, Main control system, Data communication system, SCADA system and other installations.
·     Timely report and interact with the Maintenance department for any discrepancy occurrences on the grid/generator sets.
·     Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on operation activities of Kihansi and Uwemba Units. This should include breakdowns, power dispatch and Hydrological information. Data analysis must be made to facilitate generation forecast and improvement of maintenance frequencies.
·     Facilitate operational link between Kihansi and SCADA focused on optimal utilization of Kihansi Generating sets. These include advice operating on Outage requests and timely delivery of necessary information.
·     Ensure company safety, rules and regulations are adhered to at all the times when carrying out operation activities. These include proper switching, work permits to ensure the safety of personnel and security of the company equipment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
Education:
·     Good Bachelor Degree/Advanced Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering.
Self-management and personal traits:
·     Team player
·     A good knowledge in IT
·     Outstanding communication skills – oral, written, and presentation.
·     Works well under pressure, change and ambiguity
·     Ability to work diligently and  independently
·     Exhibits high standards of business and personal ethical conduct

·     A minimum of 2 years working experience

   2. ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER – 1 Post
Report to: Principal Maintenance Engineer
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Responsible for monitoring condition of the dam and power plant, as well as civil repair works for the staff houses and offices. Also advice and provide/facilitate education and training on all environmental and social matters in order to support other Kihansi Hydropower Project activities and ensure that activities are carried out in an environmentally and sustainable manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·     Responsible for preparing and evaluating tender documents for civil works at the plant and monitoring water levels in the dam and produce report for Plant Manager
·     To monitor condition of the trail race tunnel by recording dates and performing calculations
·     To maintain power house and dam and repair offices and staff residential houses/buildings
·     To maintain fresh water supply for domestic use and initiate and supervise all civil works at the plant
·     Provide technical and professional support in the implementation of environmental mitigative and administer environmental monitoring. Ensure environmental matters are timely and properly addressed to avoid tarnishing the company’s image.
·     Supervise environmental and social activities at the Plant. This includes proper implementation of EMP activities which include regular maintenance of artificial sprinkler and infrastrure built in the gorge. Also ensure proper management of the catchment area and implementation of water right.
·     Establish and maintain good working relationship with relevant government departments, other institutions and organizations outside the company on environmental and social matters.
·     Enhance the company’s environmental performance, taking into account technical and scientific developments as well as rendering of satisfactory services to customers.
·     Contribute to the transfer of environmentally sound technology and management methods throughout the industrial and public sectors.
·     Working closely with head office environmental department in developing establishment and implementation of the environmental management system i.e. policy, guidelines and programs of the company’s undertakings in collaboration with the relevant business units in the company as well as the relevant Government Authorities.
·     Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on environmental and social activities related to the area of your jurisdiction. Also submit weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports in regard to Hydrological data as captured from the dam. Also budget requirements for environmental and social activities.
·     Ensure company safety rules and regulations are adhered to all the time when carrying out your activities. The priority must be the safety of personnel and security of the company equipment.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
Education:
·     Good Bachelor Degree/Advanced Diploma in Environmental Engineering.
·     EIA registered expert will be an added advantage.

REMUNERATION
An attractive compensation package based on performance and commensurate with the responsibility will apply to the successful candidates. All positions terms of employment are performance based fixed contract.
