The Tanzania Electric
Supply Company (TANESCO) is focusing on increasing the outreach
and service quality of its Energy products for Tanzanian people. Next
to its current passion as a leading provider of electricity is to be
more efficient customer focused utility for Tanzania
and beyond. The Company has the largest electricity generation,
transmission and distribution network in Tanzania. In order to reach its
goals, the Company will, in the coming years invest heavily in its
generation, transmission and distribution network, its

Deputy Managing Director - Transmission (1 Post)
Reporting to: Managing Director
Division: Transmission

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Planning
and implementing Company’s goals and objectives so as to achieve its
vision and mission for the Transmission
Business unit. This involves directing, planning and implementation of
the power system expansion, including generation and transmission to
meet the growing demand as well as operating and maintaining the
existing power system.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Direct the design of the transmission business
plans and direct implementation of the transmission business plan to meet the set targets.
· Direct
transmission procurement activities
for power system expansion and maintenance of the existing system,
involving various studies, implementation of projects & maintenance
works and, acquisition of tools & spare parts.
· Direct the preparation of demand forecast followed
by a generation plan and ensure optimal dispatch of all generation plants in accordance with the demand.
· Direct
safe, efficient and reliable operation
and maintenance of the transmission network that involves transformers,
switchgears, protection and communication equipment to ensure a high
level of availability and reliability of the power system.
· Direct
efficient maintenance of the transmission
network, which includes transmission lines and transmission substations
that involves transformers, switchgears, protection and communication
equipment to ensure a high level of availability and reliability of the
power system.
· Direct
commercial contract negotiations for
new Power Purchase Agreements (PPA), Power Supply Agreements (PSA), and
gas negotiations as well as management of the contracts to ensure
minimization of costs to the company.
· Direct
the preparation, periodic updating and
implementation of the Power System Master Plan (PSMP) that shows a
long-term roadmap for the least cost power system expansion plan
covering generation and transmission.
· Direct
feasibility studies for power system
expansion projects, including environmental studies and solicitation of
financing for the projects as well as the implementation of major
projects for power system expansion, rehabilitations and maintenance.
· Direct the preparation and updating of tariff
studies and interact with the electricity regulator so as to establish cost reflective tariffs for the company.
· Direct
applied research on appropriate technologies
like alternative and renewable energy technologies, power quality
improvement and promotion of low cost electrification technologies
· Construction and maintenance of company buildings
· Maintain an appropriate organization structure
with adequate staff based on company’s needs and priorities and management of staff in the transmission business unit
· Plan and implement staff development training.
· Preparation and submission of relevant managerial
and technical reports related to the transmission business unit operations.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU MUST POSSES:
· A good bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent
with post graduate studies in professional business management studies as an added advantage.
· A registered Engineer.
· At least 10 years of working experience in
the field with five years in a senior position in a large or reputable organization.
Deputy Managing Director - Distribution & Customer Services (1 Post)
Reporting to: Managing Director

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Direct
the distribution, marketing and sell of electricity, develop and
maintain quality of the network to
ensure customer’s maximum satisfaction in terms of quality and
affordability and provide standards and specifications guidelines to
staff with minimum risk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Direct
planning, construction, maintenance,
extension, safety and distribution operations standards and preparation
of specifications of net work to ensure, safe, quality and reliable
supply to our customers.
· Direct
initiation and implementation of Marketing
Strategies and road map to ensure each staff is aware of its
responsibilities and time to implement the same for the long term
sustainability of the company.
· Direct
review, refinement and implementation
of revenue collection and protection strategies and monitoring
operation of five zones and 24 regions and analyze performance based on
those collection returns to ensure financial capability of the company.
· Direct research and marketing of our commodity
so as to get feedback from our customers on how they feel about our services in order to surpass customer’s satisfaction.
· Assist
preparation, implementation, review
and control of the business corporate plan and annual budget as far as
Marketing Division is concern to ensure growth of the business.
· Develop and put in place appropriate Management
information system to support electricity marketing operations activities of the company.
· Monitor on performance targets achievement
of regions and zones in order to ensure achievement of the corporate vision
· To put in place modern customer base to ensure
that all customers are well cared and they also pay their bills according to their consumption.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU MUST POSSES:

Chief Financial Officer (1 Post)
Reporting to: Managing Director
Division: Finance

POSITION OBJECTIVE
To
manage the finance department by leading the effective management of
the company assets and liabilities, contribute to organization
profitability and sustainability, maintain and enhance organizational
development and growth, manage and asses financial performance develop
and maintain stakeholder relationships, ensure legal and corporate
governance compliance, in order to ensure that the
company financial functions support the business objectives of the
company
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Manage all financial and revenue functions
of the organization including sourcing of financial resources to ensure business growth and continuity
· Participate
in the installation and maintenance
of systems in order to ensure that management is provided with
accurate, reliable and timely financial and operation records,
information and advice to optimize management of cost and revenue.
· Lead
the development of both the operation
and capital budget, to ensure compliance with established company
parameters and timeliness and provide management with monthly
performance report (Actual vs. Budget).
· Review, constant monitor and implement credit
control procedures to ensure that the company account receivables are maintained at the lowest manageable levels
· Monthly
review of regional performance on revenue
and debtors, and prepare timely appraisal report in order to ensure the
company set KPIs on revenue are attained and management is promptly
informed on the respective business unit performance for promptly
decision.
· Review funding mechanisms, forecasts the timing
and available of funding to best manage cash flow of the company
· Implement
employee performance management process
to ensure optimum employee performance and identify and remedy
substandard performance and behavior to ensure that all finance
employees are aligned to achieve the department set KPIs.
· Develop policies and procedure to ensure compliance
with statutory, TANESCO and Board requirement for financial records and standards.
· Close monitor of the head officer treasury
functions to ensure that the company cash is adequately safeguarded.
· Monitor
and recommend payment relating to EPP,
IPP and other major expenditure relating to capital projects and
consultancy in order to ensure that the creditors are paid according to
their respective contracts.
· Participate
and manage preparation
of final accounts for accounts falling under finance department,
thorough attend Auditors and all audit queries in order to ensure that
the auditing is timely completed with a clean opinion.
KEY KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU MUST POSSES:
· B. Com or Degree in Accountancy or its equivalent
and a professional Accounting Qualification (CPA (T))
· Postgraduate qualifications in Business or
Corporate Management is an added advantage
· At least 8 years of working experience in the
field with five years in a senior position managing the finance function.
DURATION OF CONTRACT
Three (3) years including six months of probation, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
