1.        ELECTRICAL TECHNICIANS - 3 POSTS
               Reports To:  Mains Supervisor- Bukoba
               Reporting Office:   Bukoba                   

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

 Implements construction and maintenance of distribution networks as per regional plans in order to meet set targets
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Implements and supervises construction of approved distribution lines extension to ensure that more customers are connected as per targets.

·         Implements distribution system maintenance plans and supervises all maintenance works to ensure power reliability and distribution losses reduction.

  • Implement maintenance of distribution substations to ensure reliability of supply.

  • Proposes preventive maintenance plans to improve distribution system performance.

  • Monitoring and control the activities of members of section to ensure the most effective utilization of resources.

  • Any other official duties as may be assigned by the Mains engineer or senior engineer.
                                                                                                                                                    

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Holder of FTC or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.


2.         DRAUGHTSMAN/TRACER -  1 POST
             Reports To: Mains Supervisor –S/Line
             Reporting Office: Bukoba                  


 POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for drawings and traces distribution networks maps.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Prepare drawings and traces distribution networks maps
  • Prepares clear and traceable maps of the distribution networks
  • Keeps drawing equipments under his/her section
  • Perform any other tasks related to this role as assigned by his/her supervisor
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Form IV/VI  with certificate in draughtsman ship
                          
3.        INSTALLATION  INSPECTOR  - 1 POST
            Reports To: Mains Supervisor-S/Line
            Reporting Office: Bukoba          


 POSITION OBJECTIVE:

To ensure that installation done to customer premises conform to the required standards for safety of customer premises and their properties.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Conduct intensive and accurate inspection of installations to customer premises for observation of safety and their properties.

  • To inspect and report any illegal power connection, tempering attempts and other malpractices.

  • Preparation of preparation periodic reports.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Form IV /VI with Trade Test Grade II/I certificate in Electrical Installation.


4.        System Operator  - 2 POSTS
               Reports To: System Control Supervisor
               Reporting Office: Missenyi –Kyaka Substation & Bukoba Kibeta Substation                    

 


 POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Grid System monitoring to ensure that a continuous and reliable flow of electric power supply from generating plants to various places of grid destination and distribution points are maintained. 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·         Collect all necessary initial technical data in the daily log sheets and defect register book.

·         Issue permits to work, limitation of access, sanction of test after proper Isolation of equipment at switch yard before people start working to ensure highest safety standards are observed and maintained all the times in order to preserve life and property. 

·         Maintain close liaison with Grid Control centre (SCADA), Generating plants stations and other grid substation Operators to ensure smooth restoration of power supply in case of  System power failure.

·         Report a day recorded shift events to System control Supervisor to ensure the higher authority get informed for record and action.

                                                              
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Form IV/VI with Electrical installation trade test.

5.        Switchboard  Operator  - 1 POSTS
              Reports To: Station Supervisor
              Reporting Office: Ngara  Power Station                 


POSITION OBJECTIVE:

 Responsible in starting engine, automatically from the engine room, monitor operation and attend   control room instruments.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible in automatic starting of engine and auxiliary system and stopping it on time.

  • Responsible in paralleling the electric generator.

  • Close and open feeders.

  • Ensure that readings are recorded in the control room.

  • Ensure that readings are recorded in the log sheet.

  • Responsible in identifying abnormal alarm.

  • Ensure the abnormalities in the readings are recorded promptly.

  • Responsible in observing power stations safety rules and regulations

  • Performing any other duties assigned by his/her supervisor.
                                                              


ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Form IV/VI with Trade Test Grade II/I certificate in electrical installation.

6.        Mechanical Technician  - 2 POSTS
            Reports To: Station Supervisor
            Reporting Office: Biharamulo & Ngara Power Station                    


 POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for efficient running of engine and his auxiliaries at the plant

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Responsible for safe and economic of the plant during working shift.

  • To ensure company security, safety regulations are being observed all the time.

  • Responsible in preparing and managing all schedule preventive maintenance.

  • Responsible in managing plant and equipment safety systems.

  • Responsible in making sure that discipline is always maintained at work places.

  • Write a report regard to plant operations on daily basis.

  • Responsible on sagest of tools and equipment assets of the company.

                                                              
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ordinary Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
